Our intelligent monitoring
technology has been continuously developed over 15 years
to meet the demands of clients in some of the toughest environments
Because our solutions are so versatile, they are used in many ways. Clients in these four sectors are the most frequent users:
We enable users to understand the condition and behaviour of a wide range of assets during their construction and their operational life. Applications include:
Senceive technology is approved and deployed on railway networks around the world. The most common applications are monitoring earthworks, track, tunnels and other structures.
Monitoring of earthworks such as cuttings and embankments provides early warning of landslips and failures and can automatically inform asset owners of potentially dangerous events before any material encroaches on the railway track.
Monitoring of track provides insight on changes in parameters including cant, twist and slew that can warn permanent way engineers of short term, potentially dangerous problems. It also supports efficient long-term asset management by targeting maintenance resources where they are most needed.
Tunnels, bridges and other structures such as overhead electrification gantries are frequently monitored in order to safeguard their integrity, for example when construction activity such as tunnelling or excavation is taking place nearby.
Wireless remote condition monitoring plays an increasingly crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of infrastructure. Much of the civil and transport infrastructure around the world has been subject to levels of loading and utilisation well in excess of design and is being used beyond its design life. Wholesale replacement of these crucial assets is not a realistic option, so condition monitoring provides asset managers with a means to prevent catastrophic failure and target maintenance resources.
Within the transport sector applications include monitoring bridges, tunnels and railway track. Civil applications include dams, levees and other coastal and flood defence structures. Senceive technology is also increasingly being used in industrial applications such as monitoring the stability of wind turbines.
Our sensors nodes are small, robust and rugged. They are installed quickly with minimal interference to others working on site and they do not require maintenance. They have no trailing cables for power or communications so do not get in the way of other operations.
Our FlatMesh™ platform connects a large number of sensors, of different types, in dense networks with high frequency reporting and has been widely used to monitor buildings and structures during construction. Because the sensor nodes are small and discreet they are also well-suited for deployment on third party buildings and structures to provide assurance that activities such as excavation or piling are not causing unacceptable damage. Construction-related applications of wireless condition monitoring are varied and include monitoring excavations, foundations, temporary props and cranes.
The long-range capability of our systems makes them particularly suitable for surface minesites, particularly when using the GeoWAN™ platform which enables sensors to be located up to 15 km from a gateway. Applications include the use of wireless tiltmeters to monitor the stability and safety of slopes.
Tailing dam integrity can be monitored using a range of instruments at the surface and deployed in boreholes to measure movement and conditions such as water pressure that can provide early warning of instability. Innovative solutions such as FlexiMeasure™ can be deployed horizontally in a shallow trench to measure settlement and change in vertical profile, or vertically in boreholes to measure lateral ground movement.
Below ground, a combination of wireless monitoring sensors including optical displacement sensors, tiltmeters and FlexiMeasure™ can provide insight on tunnel convergence and divergence.
